2. Monday Flight to Munich, Germany!

3 Tuesday We arrive today at the Munich International Airport and will transfer into the city via the S-Bahn. After check in at our first class centrally located hotel, you’ll have free time to explore, enjoy a cold beer and rest. This evening we’ll have an included dinner (beverages at own expense) with the current JYM Students. Overnight Munich. D

4. Wednesday This morning we’ll walk from the hotel, down the famous Neuhauser-Kaufinger Strasse to the center of the city, Marienplatz, with the magnificent Rathaus (city hall) and the Glockenspiel. We’ll stroll down to Odeonsplatz to the Feldherrnhalle and on to the Hofbräu Haus. If you like, order a beer and a pretzel, always a great lunch! This afternoon you may want to visit the Deutsches Museum or City of Munich Museum, both quite close. Overnight Munich. B 

5 Thursday An early train takes us to Nürnberg. Just inside the awesome city wall is the Handwerkerhof, an old world collection of tiny shops specializing in hand made products of glass, wood, metal and more. The central market, a 10 minute walk, is filled with candy- cane striped booths featuring toys, gifts, food and ornaments. Later we return to Munich by train. Overnight Munich. B

6 Friday Munich boasts 11 different Christmas Markets and we will explore some of them today including Haidhausen and the Medieval Market. Later we will visit the JYM offices to help decorate the Christmas Tree for Niklaustag and enjoy an included Brotzeit dinner (BEER & WINE INCLUDED!) with the students.  Overnight Munich. B

7 Saturday This morning we take a train out to the lakeside village of Tegernsee. The town has a jewel of a Christmas Market, wonderful Konditoreis and bakeries and the shimmering lake. Stroll along the shore then enjoy a cup of hot chocolate in one of the glassed-in verandas in a lakeside cafe. Return and overnight Munich. B

8 Sunday Through the Bavarian and Tyrolean Alps today to the Austrian town of Salzburg. We’ll stroll from the train station into the city, see the Mirabell Gardens, take photos of the impressive Salzburg Fortress, and visit the Salzburg Cathedral. Explore the Christmas Markets, visit the art museums and enjoy a torte at Tomaseli’s cafe on the main square. As a child, Mozart visited the cafe often with his grandfather. Return to and overnight Munich. B

9 Monday Some free time today to enjoy the sights of your choice. You may want to visit Royal Nymphenburg Palace just outside the city, the Residenz Palace just off Marienplatz, or the stunning Alte Pinakothek with one of the world’s finest collections of Medieval art. We’ll meet later for our included Farewell Dinner (beverages at own expense) and to review departure details for the next morning.  B,D

10 Tuesday We return to the Munich Airport by train for our flights to the US. If you prefer to go to the airport by taxi or shuttle at your own expense, that is easily arranged. B

LAND PRICE per person sharing a room $3881 (includes tax deduction to the JYM Program);  Single supplement is $650  Not included: Transatlantic Airfare, beverages other than water [except Dec 6!] with included meals and taxes (to be determined but expected to be $165).

Registration: click the RESERVE NOW button below and fill out the form; when finished, click SUBMIT. Shortly you will receive a secure payment invoice for the deposit per person of $1500 payable with most major credit cards. Your reservation is not confirmed until the deposit is received.

$200 of the deposit is non-refundable. Balance due August 15, 2024.  Cancellations must be made in writing. Prior to August 15, 2024, a refund of the deposit minus the $200 fee and any nonrefundable items such as train tickets or entrances already purchased can be made. Cancellation after August 15, 2024, results in a refund contingent upon the conditions of the providers. Participants should be able to walk well for up to a half hour at a time and tolerate the winter weather of Munich.
